‘We remain vigilant, for the sake of the country and democracy,’ the Indigenous leader Iza said.
On Saturday, former presidential candidate Leonidas Iza, who is the leader of the Ecuadorian Indigenous movement, denounced that violations of electoral rules are part of a strategy to manipulate the elections in favor of President Daniel Noboa.

“Abuses of power continue just hours before the election day:
– Eighteen polling stations were changed at the last minute, under the pretext of the winter season.
– National broadcasts aired up to four times a day, during the mandatory electoral silence period.
– International observer delegations have been prevented from entering the country.
– The state apparatus is being used to distribute bonuses and make last-minute payments.
– A state of emergency was declared in seven provinces unfavorable to the ruling party, suspending civil rights.
– Voting was suspended for Ecuadorians residing in Venezuela.
These events are part of a calculated strategy to manipulate the electoral process and maintain political control,” he said.
“How long will we allow so many violations? They want a democracy tailored to their needs, only when it suits them. They are not interested in the will of the people, the law, or the Constitution. They only care about staying in power at any cost.
The National Electoral Council has the responsibility to ensure transparent elections within the legal framework. We remain vigilant, for the sake of the country and democracy. Ecuadorian men and women, let us go to the polls with dignity. Let us move forward together, with the hope of better days,” Iza stressed.
